Students from instructor Madison Smith’s Veterinary Science class at #ShelbyvilleCentralHighSchool took their learning beyond the classroom during an exciting field trip to the Nashville Zoo!
While on site, #students interviewed zoo professionals to gain insight into their daily responsibilities and the diverse career paths available in zoological and exotic animal care. They were also treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo’s cutting-edge animal veterinary hospital, discovering even more opportunities within the exotic animal industry.
✨ Trip Highlight:
Our students witnessed veterinary staff perform a tooth extraction on an Okapi—a rare and unforgettable real-world learning experience that brought their #classroom studies to life!

🌟 Our School Board Continues to Lead with Purpose! 🌟
Members of our district’s school board recently attended the TSBA Leadership Conference & Annual Convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, and it was a powerful weekend focused on strengthening #leadership and elevating #student success across Tennessee.
Throughout the conference, board members attended inspiring keynotes, clinics and workshops, explored innovative ideas and celebrated the achievements of school leaders statewide. 💡📚
They also participated in the #TSBA Delegate Assembly, helping shape the association’s work for the coming year by electing officers, approving the strategic plan and voting on key resolutions.

Teaching As A Profession II students from #ShelbyvilleCentralHighSchool, led by Melody Redd, continue their partnership with #SouthsideElementarySchool, shadowing mentor teachers three days a week to gain hands-on classroom experience.
Recently, #students helped out at the school’s Boo Run 🎃🏃♂️🏃♀️, showing their commitment to engaging with the school community while having fun. Experiences like this highlight why the program has been so successful—so much so that next semester, TAP I students will also visit once a week, giving even more students the chance to explore teaching as a career 📚✏️.
Before Thanksgiving break 🦃, TAP II students and FCCLA members will host Bedford Be a Teacher Day 🌟inspiring young learners to think about education as a future profession. Students will enjoy reading and creative activities, dress like their favorite teacher 👕, participate in drawing and book-making projects 📖🎨✍️ and compete for goodie bags and a class celebration 🎁🏆.
To conclude the semester, TAP II students will present lessons on teacher roles, skills and responsibilities 🎓🍎—preparing the next generation of educators. ✨

Our community came together once again for the 3rd Annual Coat Drive hosted by New Vision Baptist Church, and thanks to your generosity, dozens of #students across #BedfordCountySchools will stay warm this winter. This year, an incredible 107 new coats—along with many more gently used ones—were donated to help keep kids cozy through the cold months. ❄️🧤
