If you use Bedford County Schools’ School Age Care Program (SACP) for childcare, we want to let you know that SACP rates will increase beginning October 19.

We understand that any tuition increase affects families, and this was carefully considered. The cost of operating SACP has increased, including staff pay, food and snacks, supplies, transportation, field trips, and equipment. The updated rates will help us continue providing safe, dependable care from 6 a.m.–6 p.m. before and after school, during school breaks, and throughout the summer - without reducing services or eliminating full-day care.

Families will continue to be charged only for the days their child attends.

Recently, school counselors and school social workers from across Bedford County Schools came together for a collaborative meeting focused on professional learning and student support.📚

As part of the meeting, staff completed Child Abuse Coordinator Training, strengthening their knowledge and preparedness to help protect and support #students when it matters most.

BCS Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health Supervisor Lindsay Wiley led the training, providing an opportunity for counselors and social workers to learn, collaborate and strengthen the support they provide to students.🌟

In 1968, President Lyndon Johnson established a week that honored Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. In 1988, President Reagan enacted a law expanding the week to a whole month, National Hispanic Heritage Month.

September 15 through October 15 was chosen as the time frame for this celebration for a few reasons. The Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua celebrate independence on September 15th, Mexico on September 16, and Chile on September 18. Additionally, Día de la Raza (Columbus Day) is October 12.
